Taking a closer look at the team-up, we get a better idea of how the prized mineral of China inspired the shoe. The take on the classic court model builds on jade’s representation of beauty, protection, power and eternity, while highlighting the passion of technique required to craft with the resilient material.

This offering of the Clot x Air Jordan 5 Low features a Black base with Red contrasting accents, Silver 3M reflective tongues and speckled shark teeth on the Black midsole. The signature AJ5 lace lock expresses the translucent beauty of jade with glow-in-the-dark qualities and “2-3” jade beats arranged on the lacing system. Additional detailing comes in the form of “23” embroidered in Chinese at the heels, glow-in-the-dark midfoot netting, special red laces, printed insoles and contrasting red sockliners.

Elevating the shoe are black Air-assisted midsoles with speckled metallic silver shark teeth designs and branded glow-in-the-dark rubber midsoles. Each shoe comes complete with a special Jordan Brand shoebox expressing the color and pattern of jade.

Additionally, CLOT and Jordan Brand have come together for an accompanying apparel capsule collection. Comprised of a hoodie, T-shirt and sweatpants, the special range features elements inspired by traditional Chinese jade accessories, exploring contemporary renditions of the age-old ornament.

On a scale of 1-10, I would rate the Jordan 5, 7.5 in terms of comfort. The Jordan 5 silhouette may be heavy, but they’re extremely soft inside, and the tongue is thick and cushiony. For this reason, I would recommend them for those long days when you’re constantly on your feet.

How do you care for Air Jordan 5s?

The Air Jordan 5 is made from nubuck leather; to keep them clean, I spray them with a sneaker protector before wearing them outside. After wearing them, I remove any dirt using a nubuck brush and return them to their original box, mainly so they don’t get dusty.
