The AJ3s is no doubt a hot contender for the people’s top Jordan model but is nestled between the underappreciated Air Jordan 2 and beloved Air Jordan 4, it finds itself in that awkward middle child position.Originally releasing in 1988, the Air Jordan 3 was a debut in more ways than one. It was the first Air Jordan designed by Tinker Hatfield, the first AJ to feature the Jumpman logo and the first to feature an exposed Air unit; it took a brave step forward and went on to influence the rest of the Jordan lineage of sneakers. The thick white leather found on most of the classic AJ3s is back in its true form, along with the highly coveted elephant print on the toe and heel. The midsole, eyestays and heel tab have been given the aged treatment, similar to the yellowing found on the “Lost & Found” Air Jordan 1s. The box has also taken design cues from the “Lost and Found” release with its pre-damaged edges and OG Jordan design. The final seal of approval for fans of the AJ3s comes in the form of the sought-after “Nike Air” on the heel, which in itself is enough to make the shoe worth copping.
