As one of the most legendary Air Jordan silhouettes of all time, any new colourway of the AJ3 sparks the interest of sneakerheads, but now one of the OG variants is making a return. The Air Jordan 3 OG “Fire Red” initially launched back in 1988 and was one of Tinker Hatfield’s original designs back when he first conceptualised the sneaker. Rumour has it that the AJ3 was so good it even made Michael Jordan stay with Jordan Brand after threats of leaving for adidas.
Originally released in 1988 as one of the original four releases of the Air Jordan 3 that also included the “White Cement”, “Black Cement” and “True Blue” colorways.The Air Jordan 3 “Fire Red” retro’d back in 2007 and 2013, both featuring the Jumpman logo on the heels. While the previous two releases used the Jumpman logo, the original favored the Nike Air logo and its return is sure to be welcomed.
Crafted from premium tumbled leather, the uppers of the kicks are decked out mainly in white, although red accents create a striking and recognisable look here. Other details include Jordan Brand’s signature elephant print pattern as well as Jumpman logos embroidered onto the tongues. this retro release will come complete with the Nike Air logos on the heel tabs, a feature that’s highly-coveted amongst fans of the label.

Are Air Jordan 3 Good For Basketball?
One could play basketball in an Air Jordan 3, however it is inadvisable when compared to more advanced modern basketball sneakers available. Today’s tech surpasses that of the 80s and 90s with respect to sports performance.
I would put the Air Jordan 3 strictly in the casual category. While one could theoretically hoop in some retro Js, this is nowhere near ideal. I find walking in the Air Jordan 3 is ok, as long as you don’t overdo it. A few miles at a time is fine though.
