After seeing a range of the Run The Jewels custom sneakers online, the American Hip Hop duo finally have an actual collaboration with the Swoosh. Rumoured to be dropping around the end of April 2023 in time for a 4/20-themed release, this Nike SB Dunk High part of the pack is loaded with great details and a pink too hot to ignore. This release has undoubtedly been a long time coming for fans of Run The Jewels but even for those who don’t listen to the duo, there’s so much here to look forward to.
First and foremost, the vibrant pink pony hair is wonderfully matched by the black tumbled leather, two materials that create a solid first impression. The gold jewel dubrae and 3D jewel finish on the Swoosh is an obvious self-reference to the duo’s moniker. It’s a shame they didn’t use an actual Jewel Swoosh but perhaps that would have been too on-the-nose, plus the larger Swoosh works better anyway. The dubraes are also in the shape of the RTJ hand gesture which is normally depicted on their album covers and mimicked by fans during concerts. The thick rope laces match the loud and luxurious theme that the shoe leans into, being almost double the thickness of your average rope lace. A stash pocket on the inside of the shoe ties into the 4/20 themed drop for the pack which also happens to be Killer Mike’s birthday.
